“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on
your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.”
According to many statistics, young adults are walking away from the church these days with few coming back in later years. The reason for this phenomenon might be traced to two facotrs:
- Many young adults fail to see how the Christian faith is relevant and worth pursuing in the face of the new life decisions and new ideas they encounter in higher education.
- Still other young adults, while learning about the Christian faith in childhood, have never truly owned this faith as their own.
The ‘Integrate’ Group
In light of these reasons, Ken White and his Young Adult Mentor Team host Integrate, the Young Adult Ministry at Fleetwood Bible Church. Each week, young adults (ages 18 to about 26) gather on Mondays at 7:00 p.m. in Rooms 301-302 in a coffeehouse-type setting to worship God and explore the Scriptures. Their goal is to learn how the Christian faith integrates with the questions and situations of young adults in today’s context.
Young Adult Sunday School Class
The Young Adults also have their own Sunday School class at 9:15 a.m.. Members participate in a topical exploration of myriad complex issues facing young people today—all from a biblical worldview. Class members raise the issues they want to get biblical clarification in an effort to answer such vital questions as, “How can we relate God’s timeless truths to an ever-changing culture? What about those parts of the Bible that are offensive to much of society today? What does it mean to be a faithful Christ follower in today’s world?”
