Why am I here?

Most people, at one time or other, have wondered about God and the Bible.  Is He real? What exactly is the Bible? What is sin?  And who is this Jesus I’ve heard about?  We hope to answer those challenging questions with simple, truthful answers found in the Bible.

Who is God?

First, we need to acknowledge God is real and He does exist.  He is holy andperfect.  He is the Creator of every living thing. The Bible tells us, You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things…. (Revelation 4:11).

What is the Bible?

The Bible is a collection of books and texts written by men under the supernatural direction of God over a 1600-year period. It is His loving communication with us that guides us how to live.  The Bible teaches us about God and points to His plan to save mankind through His Son Jesus Christ.  All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness(2 Timothy 3:16);

Who am I?

You are a human being, loved and created by God with purpose andmeaning. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb(Psalm 139:13).  You were createdin His image and created to be like Him.  So God created mankind in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them (Genesis 1:27).

But as human beings, we are naturally selfish, broken and searching for more. Because of our selfishness, we have allmade choices that are contrary to God’s loving, selfless nature.  We call these choices sin.“…for allhave sinned and fall short of the glory of God…” (Romans 3:23).

Our sin separates us from God forever. For the wages of sin is death…(Romans 6:23).

Is there hope?

There’s good news! News full of hope!  God didn’t want to be separated from us because He loves each of us deeply.  He wanted to be with us so desperately that He chose to come to earth as a man: Jesus Christ.  Because of Jesus we can get a glimpse of Who God is and what He’s like. In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word [Jesus] was with God, and the Word was God….So the Word became human and made His home among us.  He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness… (John 1: 1, 14 NLT).

Who is Jesus?

There’s another reason Jesus came to earth. It was to take the punishment we deserve. Think of it. Jesus, a perfect, sinless man gave Himself over to be humiliated, beaten, nailed to a cross (a criminal’s form of torture and death), died and was buried just so wewouldn’t have to be punished. I don’t think we will ever fully understand how God placed our sinful choices on Jesus and allowed Him to die in our place, but that’s exactly what He did. God demonstrates His love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, [Jesus Christ] died for us (Romans 5:8).

There’s moregood news!  Jesus didn’t stay dead! He became alive again after being buried in a tomb for 3 days! If we make the choice to accept the fact that Jesus took our punishment for us, and as we choose to put our old way of selfish living behind us, we will be saved from receiving the punishment we rightly deserve and can spend our lives now and forever with Him!For everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved(Romans 10:13). That’s actually GREAT NEWS!!! Today you can start living the full life God has for you as you make a conscious decision to look to Him for direction and follow His instructions on how to live.

What Can I do?

If this sounds like a life change you’re ready to make, tell God you’re sorry for doing life your way instead of His. He will forgive you immediately because He loves you immensely! Thank Him for taking your punishment for you; thank Him for giving His life for yours, and tell Him you need His help to turn away from your old life; ask for His help to start living the way He has planned for you from this moment on. Trust in the Lord [God] with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight (Proverbs 3:5-6).

If you accepted this Good News for yourself, Congratulations! You are now God’s child! Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12).  Please share your decision with us so we can be excited with you and help you.  Begin to develop a daily habit of spending time with God throughout each day just talking to Him (we call this prayer); learn more about Him by reading the Bible, His Word. Ask God to help you get to know Him and to make things clear as you read His Word.  Ask for His help in applying what you’re learning to your life. We can assist you in finding other people who have made this same decision; they can support you as you grow in your understanding of what it means to follow Christ.  (If you don’t have a Bible and would like one or want to connect with others, contact us by clicking the link below.)

May the Lord continue showing you His plan for your life as you trust in Him for each moment of every day.
