The Journey to Hope, Part 1: Much (Luke 7:41-48)
Topic: Hope Scripture: Luke 7:41–7:48
Jesus tells us that the most important thing we can do is to love God. But what does that look like in your life? Some of us approach God with a “meh” attitude… He’s pretty good I guess. But there is a lack of joy and passion in our relationship with Him. In Luke 7:41-48, Jesus explains why this may be. If we are forgiven much, we will love God much. The reality is that if our faith is in Christ, then we HAVE been forgiven much. None of us are actually good. Nobody is just a little bit of a sinner. And so the problem appears when we begin to perceive ourselves as having only a small debt. Jesus says, “The one who is forgiven little loves little.” When we fail to realize the extent of God’s forgiveness toward us… our attitude toward God becomes “meh”. Do you love God MUCH? This question can’t be answered with your lips. It can only be answered with your life.
