Courage, Part 9: Praying in the Spirit (Jude 20b)
September 27, 2015 Series: Courage: Standing for Truth in an Age of Lies (The Book of Jude)
Topic: Prayer Scripture: Jude 1:20
The battle against false teaching is not won by arguments alone. Prayer is essential. But Jude is not interested in believers just logging prayer mileage. Rather, he says we should pray “in the Holy Spirit” or “by the Holy Spirit” (v. 20b). It’s a tremendous encouragement to know that the Holy Spirit helps us pray. The Apostle Paul wrote, “The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans” (Romans 8:26). In this message, Pastor Tim shows how praying in the Spirit means aligning your thinking with God’s thinking. You’ll discover some basic tactics for praying in the Spirit, along with a few threats to effective prayer, and some prime targets for prayer.
